Heron Foods: Melton Business Park, Melton, Hull

New state of the art head office building and cold store distribution centre for Heron Foods in Melton near Hull.

The contract consists of the detailed design and construction of a 6,650m² cold store, a 3,500m² chill store and a 9,590m² ambient store all contained within the one distribution centre building. Along side this; a new office building to accommodate Heron Foods head office staff. The contract also includes ancillary buildings and associated MEICA and infrastructure.

The ancillary buildings around the distribution centre include an energy centre where the refrigeration plant is sited and incoming supplies will be terminated and a waste compaction building to allow the waste packing materials from the stores to be handled and bailed for recycling.

The office accommodation is also outside the main distribution centre building and spans the loading docks leading up to the distribution centre. The offices are supported by means of a deep steel truss forming part of the external feature of the building. The main offices are suitable for 185 staff and workforce and will be split over two levels to suit Herons operating requirements.

Heron Food recieved a Highly Commended Status for \"Best Partnership with a Local Authority\" in the  LABC Awards for Building In Excellence 2010.
